Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Has anyone been to see this? I went to see it tonight with some friends and thought it was great entertainment. It's not overly intelligent or thought-provoking, but then that's not what it's meant to be. The action scenes were absolutely fantastic, particularly on the Burj al Arab and in the car park towards the end. Where a lot of action films seem to use the 'shaky camera' approach, which can get really irritating after a while, this had a much more polished feel to it.

I also liked the cast, particularly Pegg and Renner, who I think will make an excellent replacement to Cruise if he ever decides to give up the MI films. My only complaint about the film would be that you never felt like you knew much about the villain. I suppose it's a criticism that can be leveled at most action films, but I didn't think Michael Nyqvist's character Hendricks was very well presented. He didn't get enough screen time in my opinion. Having said that, his lack of screen time allowed for a better sense of relationship between the main characters, and allowed for a greater emphasis on action scenes. I'd definitely say it's one of my top 3 action/thrillers of the year and give it 4/5.

Overall I enjoyed it - was one of the better MI films really, but did feel the action scenes were underwhelming to what I expected for a MI film they just werent grand enough to hold the weight of the score if you know what I mean...

Baddie was very poor, zero character development, especially what happens to him at the end just seems poorly thought out as he had no real motivation to kill himself - he wasnt a political/religious ideological zealot.

Not too sure the team dynamics/development really changed in the film, I could whack the team from MI:3 straight in and not really notice any difference - there was nothing wrong, just nothing that right really. Simon Peggs character was completely unbelievable as a field agent. The bird was, as always, ultimately disposable...

Wished they used the bloke from Hurt Locker more, its quite obvious from the way the film portrays him, his character will be the replacement for Hunt at the IMF (see nod to MI roof wire scene and 'traumatic soul-searching' backstory), no doubt with Hunts wife in the picture and their previous, its an easy out for the next film, especially if 'Tom Cruise Production' are involved too ;)
I congratulate BMW for getting pretty much their whole current/future line up of cars into the movie - probably the films best achievement...

I thought it was great. All you need for a Mission Impossible movie is stunts, Tom Cruise, and tech, and this film had all three, sort of... The 'stunts' were brilliant, I just wish they weren't so CGI heavy.

The first half was top notch, the opening sequence in the prison was fantastic and I thought I was in for a great movie experience. It slowed down a little in the second half, but I still had a fun time, and would recommend. :)

8/10

I saw it on Tuesday and thought it was really good. Brilliant over the top stunts and not too thought provoking. 8/10

Oh and I also liked the apple and BMW product placements :p

Quite enjoyed this. Yeah there were a few product placements but the action was decent and it had a nice bit of humour to offset all the action. :)

8/10, I would watch again for the action alone!

Are you serious? Jumping out of the Burj Tower is underwhelming to you? Okay.

I do agree with some of your other points, especially about the antagonist.

Cant afford one? Unlucky ;):p

So you're saying expensive things and those that are ascribed more value are inherently "better" than other things? Nice view to have ;)

I really enjoyed it, thought it was great fun and just what you want from a MI film. My girlfriend however went and saw it and fell asleep. Her friend did the same and she hated it and fell asleep whilst her boyfriend loved it.

Proper man film. :D

Sorry didnt see your response til now - I dno why I expected more, but kinda did, to me what we saw were bigger copies of previous MI stunts.

Unfortunately that what makes the world go round unless you think we live in utopia? ;)

I went to see it the other day. Loved every minute of it. The stunt on the side of the building is even more amazing when you remember Tom Cruise did it himself without safety nets and such (I don't think he had them anyway from what I was reading).

8 out of 10 for me it would be a 9 but the bad guy was crap to put it bluntly

Loved it, but did anyone else get annoyed with the intro credits? I felt like those credits should have been at the end of the film, they seemed to go on for ages lol

He was in a harness! Still takes a lot of balls to do though.
