Saw this for the first time last night and was very disapointed. I thought the first two were great, but this one just seemed like a normal action film. I think the only time the MI music was played was during the credits. There was virtually no linkage with the MI franchise.

The film is ok as a standalone, but doesn't deserve the MI name.

Anyone else think so?

EDIT: Sorry, wrong forum. Please move!

i downloaded the trailer and it seemed okay. Not seen the film will deffinatley have to watch n find out!

Needs to be moved to Music+Box Office :p

It was OK, maybe a 6 at best.
Have to admit that some of the bits in films like this always make me wonder. For example, the helicopter chase. Just why did the bad guy in the Cobra gunship decide to fly at the level he did, why not fly above the wind turbines and use the 20mm gatling gun that was fitted in the nose of the chopper?

LOL. Yeah, good point. I didn't even see the point of the helicopter anyway, why didn't they just drive off in the van

errr, because they wouldn't have had a stupid helicopter chase otherwise.
In addition, the bad guys used a heat seeking missile. Why did the chopper get a "radar lock" warning?
Sorry, MUST STOP READING TOO MUCH INTO HOLLYWOOD MOVIES...

I thought it was fantastic, it was directed by the creator of Alias and you can see traits of that through out the film. For me it was the most enjoyable of all 3 MI films.

Same. I hated MI2, that was John Woo all over. No proper plot, any excuse for slow mo and dual pistol shootouts. Not that he's an incredibly bad director (Being nice) but he just didn't suit the MI franchise at all.

The thing I like about MI3 was that is showed Tom Cruise a little more vulnerable than usual.

Agreed, MI2 also had the naff fight at the end, with Cruise doing his own stunts. Whilst Cruise is pretty good for an actor, he clearly isn't a genuine martial arts expert, and it certainly showed.

I thought it was by far the best of the lot. The action was intense, the acting possibly even more so, plus it had Simon Pegg in it.

It's more like the original Mission Impossible series than any of the 3 films iirc. I thought it was quite good.

I watched it at christmas and loved it. Again another good performance from Tom Cruise who makes the film great were others would make it a basic action movie.

No way! MI1 was the most similar movie to the TV series out of all the films. It involved a full team of agents who each had to perform a role. And who can forget the NOC list that they had to steal from CIA headquarters - surely that will be remembered for many a year? MI2 and MI3 dont have any scenes that will be remembered for years to come.

I think MI2 was the least deserving of the MI name as it was really Ethan Hunt working on his own. In the middle of the movie he calls upon the services of Ving Rhames, which wasnt really necessary. MI2 was just a massive dissapointment.

MI3 wasnt a bad film, as a standalone piece.
