Mister FPGA

A friend of mine also bought the Mister SD card setup for sale on the same site. He went with the 512 GB version. He said, what a treat of software. He was most impressed by the 486 stuff. There's were omissions, with nothing for the Amiga, but that will soon be fixed, by me, I mean him.

I had a look at them, but they were quite pricey. I'll have a go at setting mine up at the weekend. I did try it briefly yesterday and the fan has to go (or at least be replaced)!

Ah that's kind of disappointing. I was hoping the Mister Pi would have increased the availability. How is the QM Tech clone?
It's pretty good for the money, the fan is crap but you can run it without it, or replace with a better one. I wasn't keen on the case, cheap and flimsy feeling but did the job.

Taking apart the stack was awful, I felt it was going to break or bend the pins each time. If you're just gonna stick it next to a tv and play though then you'll be fine.

I just found mister isn't for me, I don't seem to notice the lag in software emulation like some people do. I don't have a crt and wasn't impressed with how it looked on a flat screen tv.

If I want another TV based system I prefer something like Batocera on a cheap mini pc with a nice interface, save states and shaders which i had a while back before buying a bunch of handhelds. You could even get a refurb of a little HP machine from a few years ago for under a ton. These are readily available and would emulate later system past N64.

Mister is impressive, things like the old 8bit or 486 core are very cool. But just think about the systems you want to play, how you play and what's important to you before buying. Or buy from AliExpress so can return it easily :)

I have been having similar thoughts as well to be honest. I decided I would just set up emu deck on my Steam Deck instead of going the mister route. Might treat myself to a second dock so that I have one for the PC monitor and one for the TV.

I love mine. I've ordered the Pi MT32 hat for it. I'm glad I went for the QMTech one, it's easier to financially justify in mind.

Knowing that this unit replaces a room full of the original kit is a wee bit galling, but what can you do.

Do you mean these ones? Looks like there is a yellow one in stock https://ko-fi.com/s/ab6d3d344e
Yeah the original Zaparoo (tapto) can use the standard nfc215 cards we have a 3D printer at work so I printed one of those but I meant the nfc cards themselves look similar to hucard cartridges.
