Mister FPGA

People have even created their own little ejectable nfc drives (like an old floppy drive) which really appeals to me and sounds like a fun project.

You can get some cases from here…

I’m just anxiously awaiting my founders edition translucent blue SuperStation to arrive as it’s now almost end of Q3!

Did anyone else pre-order one in the end?
Some more updates today showing off mould process. Seems to be going well :).

I’m a little paranoid about the clear blue colour now after seeing the Midnight blue version. It’s too dark for my liking.

I think they are two different shells, the power button that was made looks like clear blue (to me).

Delay to SuperStation One

Based on today's information, we have a new estimated shipping date for your order. If nothing changes, we will start shipping Batch 1 SuperStation One orders in the first week of November. If that changes, we will inform you. We will be shipping black, classic gray, and clear blue orders in that priority. We are a very small company, and we are more than grateful that you decided to support us. Please be aware that it will take time to get through all the orders. We will keep our shipping dashboard updated to track our progress.

Just read the whole email, it’s not too bad I guess, shame clear blue is at back though!

I’ll prob split my order I reckon, rather than waiting for the dock to be ready

I got my MultiSystem 2 this week. I only got round to setting it up today. I built my original mister into my Checkmate monitor so this will live under my TV in the lounge. I've got a BT/WiFi dongle on order. Fingers crossed it works!

My original mister hasn't been updated in a while so I might wipe it and start again. I'm also going to look at giving them both access to my NAS.

I wouldn’t use NAS over WiFi, I had issues with CD based games, Tony Hawks on PSX was unplayable

Edit / I was using an old 2.4g dongle in the same room as my access point

I'm still waiting for mine. My order was in the 12k range, mind me asking what your order number range was?

Mine was in the high 8k range.

Thanks for the warning. I was looking to use it for 8/16 bit stuff but I might just maintain the sd cards for the 2 systems separately.

The USB BT/WiFi dongle I got worked but it needed to be unplugged and plugged in every time the mister was started. I've swapped it out with separate BT/WiFi dongles from my Pi and it seems to work now.

So how is the MS2 itself?

I've not done too much with it yet but it functions the same as my mister ultimate stack which is what you would expect. The form factor, button location and port location is much better for day to day use. USB ports on the front, back and internally are useful. The 3d printed case is solidly ok, you can tell up close but from about 1m away it's not that noticeable. The plans for expansion are exciting (things like using real carts).

The main things I bought it for were quality components and the proper PCB lay out with things properly toleranced rather than a ton of daughter boards. It's hard to quantify the advantages of this as it's more about not having disadvantages. Of course supporting a UK company is good too.

The SNAC adaptors are a down side as they are proprietary but again the form factor is better. Apparently they are making an adaptor for use with the usual SNAC setup. The other down side is the lack of PSU as standard.

Compared to the Supertation One I would imagine the positives for the multi system are amount of ports/locations and component quality (possibly PCB layout too). On paper the positives of the Superstation are the case, built in BT/WiFi and superdock.

I would say the new menu system on the SS1 is a big positive, and for people who don’t know too much about the Superdock, it allows you to play original CD based games on all CD cores, not just PlayStation.

I’m looking forward to see what Taki comes up with for his dedicated NES FPGA coming out next

I was really sold on it being UK based and the work they put into the parts and tolerances, but then I priced it up and it was a lot more than my Mister Pi and struggled to justify it.

Had it come with a nice case I might have bitten but in the YT previews it looked very cheap. I get that from a distance (and stuck in a TV unit) it would probably have been alright and the ports etc. are more important.

My Mister Pi has been fine, but the build quality isn't great which was a disappointment, I spoke to RR and they didn't seem bothered in the least.

I'll be skipping the SuperStation, not bothered about the optional CD drive and given I have Mister I can't see much reason to get one.
