What does everyone think of these? Looking at the 2.5l V6.

I hear the engine in fairly bullet proof so should be okay getting one with a high milage.

I was looking at these. But
WHAT CAR? VERDICT What Car? overall rating - 3 out of 5
Distinctive family saloon and estate with comprehensive equipment list. Dull interiors, poor ride and intrusive road noise but powerful, frugal engines and superb build compensate.

FOR
Equipment, powerful and frugal engines, build

AGAINST
Dull interior, poor ride, road noise

Vauxhall Omega 2.5 v6 gets a better review.

WHAT CAR? VERDICT What Car? overall rating - 4 out of 5
Capable and spacious executive car. Smooth ride and keen handling make for good drive, while interior is spacious and well equipped. A much better used buy than new thanks to heavy depreciation.

FOR
Ride, handling, space, kit, cheap to buy

AGAINST
Styling, lack of image

Best thing is to go test drive one...

After all if you like it and it does what you want, that's all which matter. But for a luxo barge I was worried about the road noise bit, but I haven't driven one.

RELIABILITY Reliability rating - 4 out of 5
Tough, but costly to fix. Auto boxes fail on oldest cars, while brakes and suspension need expensive overhauls. 2.0-litre model is best bet

ALSO CONSIDER
VW Passat, Peugeot 406

What car is wrong (as always). Cracking cars, jap imports have always no limits on specs and trim as well.

Does this look like a dull interior to you by the way?

No, but what is the road noise like?

It's certainly no lexus, but it's not any louder than any other jap car of that era - think Primera GT noise levels, choose tyres wisely and steer away from M25 you won't notice. ;)

Neighbour had a V6 VR4 Galant estate in don't **** with me black with limo tints. Looked the nuts plus nice and subtle.

I have driven the estate version and I have to say I liked it. The 2.5 engine was quite pokey and the build quality was above what I have seen from some Japanese cars.

If you like it and it isn't a stinker, why not ? :)

Cant say Ive looked too hard, but thats the first interior in a Galant Ive seen with a bit of colour, especially the wood effect. The ones Ive seen are the dodgy black plastic that is in the FTOs.

Would certinaly check it out it make sure its not a stick on vinyl job. Have thought about these myself over the past couple of weeks after seeing quite a nice 02 plate around town.

True, if you choose bottom models, like GLS or Equippe, interior is going to be somewhat gloomy:

especially compared to bottom japanese trim:

Gets better with high Euro trims, like Elegance

and high jap trims like one on the top picture in this thread

I have a 2001 V6 sport estate and I'd buy another. Good looking and insanely reliable, but tyre-sensitive. Thinking about lowering it too, it does have huge arch gaps.

About 25mpg, no idea about service costs as I do mine myself, sorry. Parts seem reasonable though, none of the routine filters, belts and bits have been a nasty surprise. They go through front tyres though, being a heavy front-drive car with torque, but as long as you rotate them you should be ok.
