mix crossfire

i want to get an hd4890 but can i add a hd4870 to that later on.

i herd you can crossfire different types of card but i dont know if its true or not but if so does it have to be the same type of brand and is there any benefit for using 2 identical cards.

You can xfire them, but the 4890 will run at 4870 speeds.

They'll run at their own speed each. The faster card used to downlock to match the slowest card, but that's not the case any more.

What they will do though is if you have one card at 512MB of RAM, and a second at 1GB, they'll both be restricted to 512MB for each card.
