Anyone think there will be much difference between the older maxtors and the new SATA2 ones for raid purposes?

Depends what you mean by older? SATAI to SATAII??
Speed probably not much - you'd hope they'd be a bit quieter by now tho.
Samsung Spinpoint is the way forward IMHO.
[EDIT] Ahha, sorry i missed the title mixing with the subject. Mixing the two might not be the greatest idea - they will perform differently for sure. You'll limit yourself to the slower speed [/EDIT]
