Hi,

I've got 2x2gb of 6400C5's right now. I want to get 4gb more as I want to run some VM's with multiple OSes.

I've heard Mushkins are nice RAMs, and I saw these Mushkin XP PC2-8000 Redline 5-5-5-12.

I am wondering if installing those would be a good idea on my P5Q-E. If anyone has any insight or experience in this matter, any comment or advice is greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I do not have access to G Skill, Cellshocks or Geils.

I would just get more Corsair.

No point buying faster memory when it won't be able to run any faster than the slower Corsair, if it runs with it at all.

Ah I see.

Sooner or later i will be jumping onto a Quad, i think a Q9300 but hopefully a Q9450/9550. 800mhz RAMs would be ok for Q9300?

And the reason I asked the original question, which I completely forgot to add, was that the price difference between getting 4gb Corsair or 4gb Mushkin is about 7-8 pounds difference.

If you're intending to clock the Q9300/Q9450/Q9550 far then you'll be needing something closer to the Mushkin due to their low multipliers.

But there's absolutely no guarantee that the Mushkin will run ok with the Corsair.

Argh... Alright... I am going to pick up the same C5's... Hope they run at 4-4-4-12 on 400fsb... Wish me luck lol.

If you have the money, and you're certain that you'll be getting one of the 45nm quads, then pick up 8gb of the PC2-8000 now. It'll save any hassle when you do upgrade the CPU.
