Mixing SATA and EIDE drives.

My system gas two HDs a 160Gb SATA master used for system and programs and a 200Gb EIDE slave used purely for storage.
My mate reckons the EIDE drive will throttle my system and slow the SATA drive down. My view is that SATA and EIDE are two entirely separate busses therefore they won't affect each other.
Anybody got a definitive answer please?
Cheers.

Tell your mate he is wrong.

SATA and IDE are, as far as things are concerned, the same thing really.

Hey, if its any help, my Main PC is running off 2 SATA controlers and 1 IDE Controler in the Motherboard, plus, I am also using another PCI IDE Card for More HDs...

So, in total, I have 4 controlers, 2 SATA + 2 IDE and there is no performance hit at all.

In fact, its making things nippier because Im not throwing all my data through just one or two controlers... ( When I have loads of data going to & from all *** drives to other drives it helps, but otherwise not )
