whats the best way to mix whey powder with milk. I don't have access to a blender but when i use a shaker the powder has a habit of clumping and sticking to the bottom. any tips?

I mix mine with water, generally I put the whey in a glass, add water, quick stir, leave it for a few mins, then stir it again, no lumps and it mixes well. :) But I shouldn't have went for Choc Orange flavour this time, it's quite sickly. :(

Put the milk in first, then the powder.

If the shaker is wet/damp before putting the powder in first, this will cause problems.

I put the powder in to a dry shaker and then add the milk. Then proceed to shake like **** for 30 - 40 seconds. I find that they are as smooth as anything after this.

When you put the milk in first and then scoop the powder in, thats when it tends to stay clumped together from the spoon and makes for a lumpy drink. (In my experience anyway)

I can't believe we have a thread on how to mix whey with water/milk?!!! Add together / mix! If it doesn't mix well stir with a fork! SIMPLE! :D

I put a bit of milk in, then the powder, stir with a fork. Then add the rest of the milk.

Though if I add a banana, I use a blender.

Brocksta, what are the benefits of adding oats?

adding oats i think means more carbs or something like that , i use maltodextrin as my source of carb and i add that in :)

Whey on its own is simply a protein shake, if you add oats then you add more carbs to it and effectivley make it in to a weight gainer type shake.

i quite agree, how are we talking about how to shake it :p

into shaker and shake like mad!

True, it is.

But I heard after workouts your body needs the protein straight away and seeing as milk takes a while to digest, it's best to have it in water? However I also heard that the thing about needing to get the protein to your body right away is a myth and that infact there is a big window after your workout in which you can give your body protein.

Confused.

Of course.

You can get it to taste okay in water by adding a heap, and I mean a HEAP of milkshake flavouring. :D But then it turns in to one big unhealthy sugar-filled mess. :)

Milk, I tried taking whey with water but it's foul.

im guessing your taking unflavoured whey?
get some flavourings, will make a lot of difference, vanilla doesnt taste much different in water to milk, nice in both :D

I tried banana in water and it was just so *shudders*. Wouldn't dare try unflavoured in water, can barely have it in milk without anything else!
