MK1 Focus - Long time to start

Ah well, looks like I fixed it ...... the culprit was .....

3 leaking fuel injectors.

Removed the fuel rail with all 4 injectors still on, primed the system, could see no 3 dripping a lot, no 4 not so much, and no 2 just every so often. Went to scrappy and found a focus with the fuel rail and injectors intact (And only for a £5 !).

Did the same thing on the new rail, no leaks at all. Hooked everything back up, its been firing up in half a second every time since. Sorted :)

If the injectors were leaking that badly then you should have had rather obviously negative fuel trims if the car was looked at with an OBD tool. It's rather odd that you didn't have any excess vapour/fuel smell in the exhaust fumes according to your OP, given that no3 was dripping constantly.

Id never actually been outside the car when cranking, so never smelt anything, it was only today when I took it to my friend and he started having a look that I got a wiff of the smell, and with what I had been reading about fuel injectors recently I thought I had to have a look. But yeah strange the garage didn't pick up on it with their scan tool ........
