Hi there,

So I have had the setup in my sig for probably around 4 years and around a year ago upgraded the GFX to the one in my sig and bought the waterblock for it.

Now I want to see what it will cost to upgrade so that I can play the games coming out at the mo like BF4.

So I have a MountainMods case so I am hoping that will still be ok as it is plenty big enough for watercooling. I have a Thermochill 120.3 rad in at the moment but that is ancient now so I assume something better is out there now? I also have a decent reservoir so won't need that but probably will need new tubing. Oh and the pump is still going strong so that doesn't need replacing I don't think. And I have the HDDs which I will keep and the optical drive so its all the rest:

Mobo, Memory, CPU, GFX, sound card (a nice decent one would be good), Rad, GFX block and tubing.

So have at it guys :)

If I were you I would make sure your CPU is overclocked. Buy a new gfx card. A 7970 or a 280x and add an 240gb SSD and upgrade your HD's.

You will probably find this is fine for BF4 and the SSD and new GPU will give it a whole new lease of life without spending too much.

Ok overlclocking the cpu won't be a prob and have been meaning to do it!! So even though its like 4 years old the CPU is still good enough?

I have an SSD already and a 300gb second hdd an all my data is on my NAS so HDD's aren't a problem. Thanks for the GFX suggestion though. Any idea on a good 120.3 rad as I really would like to get a new one.

Yep, while there are better CPUs out there the 920 is still very decent.

See this thread for comparisons of different CPUs in a small segment of single player BF4. The 930 in there provides a good base for comparison, but remember that you'll be running higher clocks than that so will perform much better :)

Thanks for the info David. I just wanted to know if I did go for say a 280x card if my power supply will be ok and have the right connectors as thats 4 odd years old too?
