Hurrah for machine polishers and produce, my car is finally now showing its true colours!

Off on the boat home on 3G dongle so only the one picture but the Zymol "special" stuff is stunningly good! :D

Just got off the boat and home.

I did not do the detail myself, although I will be doing all future ones the hazing, swirls etc left by the previous owner and dealer were far too plentiful for me to trust myself to do it - at least the first time around. Went to a pro and spent 8 hours on the exterior of the car. Very happy with the result.

As for more pics:

Detailing - the art of spending 3 hours washing a car and 5 hours taking pictures of the "flake pop"

Does look good though but I wouldn't bother on anything other than a show car or a classic that gets taken out once a month.

You do not need to spend that much time every week. And it was 8 hours of washing/paint correction/protection not 3 and 5 afterwards "tarting around".

I keep on top of the maintenance now and it will be easier than before and without cobwebs/swirls all over the paintwork. Couple of hours every other week to protect the paintwork and keep it looking good is a decent prospect to me. DD or not, I prefer my cars clean!

No real need to machine polish unless it is to remove defects in the paint, it's not a maintenance thing. Any more than once a year and I question what you are doing to your paintwork to warrant it!

Think you are reading into the word 'detailing' a little too far, in my eyes it's just the modern version of valeting but it's not concourse - at least not what I got done :p

Basic process was:

Solvent
Washed With Shampoo/Rinsed
Clayed
Machine Polished
Waxed

Pretty much a standard process for pain correction. There were no cotton buds out or magnfying glasses :D

Main reason for the closes ups is the colour is very chameleon. It is a deep burgundy but can look pitch black, bronze, reddy and purpley. It's very hard to get a true picture of the colour that is seen in sunlight.

Oh and as a side note.. I really really want Black/Silver plates. Cannot believe how much it changes the appearance of the car compared to nasty yellow/whites :(

It's umm... strange. It's some kind of metallic flick but it's got blues, yellows, reds in.

Looking top down its bronze, then as you move around and down it goes a deep red. It's very subtle and without direct sunlight/strong artificial light it appears to be black.

It's official Honda name is Deep burgundy but that's a bit of a stretch :D

Because most people would rather see a clear shot of the car at a non-neck-breaking angle.

Paintwork is paintwork regardless of angel

Posted to show the paint results and colour starting to come out, this picture happened to show the colour and quality of the finish better than a lot of the others.
