Looks epic, so many updates there, some I'm not interested in but some look very interesting.

What I couldn't work out from that is with facebook messages (not chat) are they integrated and visible on the home screen (or even better the lock screen)?

Hopefully Whatsapp and Skype will be available shorty too although I'm guessing that Skype won't be fully integrated because of issues with operators.

Well they've mentioned "the holidays" quite a lot so doesn't that usually mean just before thanksgiving, which is November I think? So maybe October rather than September. Either way I hope it is soon as I could really do with Skype some of the extra features on the phone... :p

EDIT: Also Angry Birds is out today... Probably won'tdownload it as I've played all the levels on the computer and there are loads of alternatives out already...

If you do this make sure you keep your current phone backup safe! There is no upgrade path from beta Mango to release Mango.
If you lose your backup, then you'll be stuck with the beta Mango version.

On this note anyone know how you can move the default save location of backups? You can change all the other paths in Zune but I can't find one to change this. I had to delete my last backup because I was running out of space on my C drive...

I'll just leave this here...

Why do you need to upgrade regularly anymore, It's pointless. However phone contracts are a rip off, sim Only deals are the way forward.

The same thing could be said any time in the last 10-15 years... Really, was the 3330 really better than the 3310, the k800 better than the k750 etc.

Upgrade because you want the latest... It's been like that forever with any techy person.

Also sim only are rip offs unless you buy a used phone... I've never paid more than around £50 than a phone sim free than for the contract it came with.

Anyway lets not get into that argument again...

That Fujitsu glimpsed a couple of weeks ago has been officially unveiled... It's probably not going to make it's way over here but the specs are very interesting (if not the design...)

Well, we can't say we didn't see this one coming. Fujitsu Toshiba mobile communications -- now there's a mouthful -- just unveiled the IS12T: Japan's first Windows Phone 7 device, and according to Microsoft prez Yasuyuki Higuchi, the world's first Mango handset. The sexy and IPX5 waterproof (!) 3.7-inch WVGA slate is powered by Qualcomm's MSM8655 CPU of undisclosed clock speed (which we've seen running at 1GHz in the Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt), and goes on sale in "September or beyond" on KDDI's au network. The pink gizmo packs a 13.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and has a plentiful 32GB of flash storage for housing whatever content you'd fancy toting around. The usual Bluetooth (2.1 + EDR) and WiFi (802.11b/g/n) suspects are also onboard. Interest piqued? Peruse the gallery our Engadget Japanese brethren have handily tossed our way.

Not really too bothered about the camera size but it's interesting to see the resolution they have crammed in (how good is the picture though...), The real interesting thing though is the 32GB of storage. Hopefully this will carry over to all the other new phone releases!

Probably the next month or two. The Fujitsu is the only one that has been officially, offically announced but it may be a Japan exclusive.

Apparently Mango has shipped to manufacturers ahead of shedule so I'm hoping half a dozen or so phones are announced in the next few weeks!

So two Samsung phone specs have been revealed

As for the fall lineup, there doesn't seem to be a slacker in the bunch. The Focus S will have a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.4GHz CPU and an 8 megapixel rear camera that accompanies a 1.3 megapixel front-facing cam for video chat. Also bearing Mango is the Samsung Focus Flash, considered the lower-end offering by Sammy, which still brandishes a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen -- no Plus involved on this one -- as well as a 1.4GHz CPU and 5 megapixel rear shooter and front-facing camera that for now has no specified resolution. Each of the phones are expected to arrive in the fourth quarter, and the existing lineup should be on the receiving end of the update sometime "this fall." This is just the beginning of the impending flood, so we can't wait to see what else is around the corner.

US phones certainly but considering last years releases (Omnia 7 and Focus) I'm guessing the specs are going to be the same for the UK/rest of the world phones.

Just a shame they removed the 4" screen choice. I think it is certainly the best for the 800x480 resolution. At least it looks like they will be a reasonable step up from the current models though. Hopefully a little more RAM (for multitasking futureproofness) and more internal memory (16GB minimum IMO).

I can't buy a new phone as there too expensive (Mozart is £150 second hand in mint condition). Had a look at the Samsung and there £180, do you reckon it's worth the extra? Thanks

Definitely.

I think WP8 should be fine on all the current phones.
