Heya guys, played WoW for quite a few years of my life, quit last Dec after gearing my fresh 85 in full heroic / badge gear.

Tried getting into Rift but it was just too repetetive for me.

Currently thinking about restarting WoW but I'd like something else, something new. I'm going to get GW:2 when it comes out but I'd like something for the time being.

Anything you can suggest?

Have you tried LOTRO?

Age of Conan has gone free to play, so thats worth a shot

Star Trek Online will be going free to play at the end of the year.

Yeah, play something that isn't an MMO.
Nice useless post, I play games such as Crysis2, the new DeusEx, Civ5 etc but I also like mmo's

Didn't like AoC and the others all have bad reviews, anything else?

Aion

Final Fantasy 12

Guild Wars

What about the sandboxes like:

Darkfall Online

Mortal Online

There isnt a better wow alternative than rift, but I enjoyed my time with dungeons and dragons online, just can't face starting from scratch in mmo's these days.

I don't want a wow alternative as such, just a new mmo.

I've played Aion, FF12, GW1 and Darkfall, except for GW I didn't like them so much.

I'm a very fussy gamer, if I'm going to be dedicating large amounts of time to an mmo I don't want it to be a boring grindfest.

Sadly your in the same boat as i am :D

Try EvE?

It's different and if you have time to chuck at it it can be really rewarding. It's the game I, unfortunately, missed when I had time to game loads :(

I am in the same position. As far as MMOs go I am only waiting for The Old Republic, isn't anything on the market that I am interested in anymore.

Pretty much this for me as well. I quit playing EVE and Lotro, was hanging in there with Rift but it turned into a big yawn fest. I'm hoping the The Old Republic will be my saviour.

I might try Eve, look like it takes up waaaaaaaaaay too much time, even for an mmo.

As for PW:O, I'll give it a miss and as it was a recomendation from the misses and not yourself your manpoints are still intact.

If you're bored of wow, then half the stuff above won't even touch the sides. Quit wow a couple of months ago so I'm just waiting for GW2 or maybe even Tera Online.

LOTRO - didn't like it, was too slow, combat and crafting were annoying.
Star Trek - just no. I like the show, but this left me cold.
DCUO - enjoyed this for a month or 2 but there's not enough endgame, which is a real shame.
DDO - pretty good, same kind of hack and slash controls as DCUO so it's nice for a change from hotkey based MMOs.
Perfect World - They're ok actually, very similar to how WoW works but a fair bit slower. Free though, so they're not going to change your life.

There are plenty of freebie ones to pass the time if you want, and hey, they're free so why not. Personally I'm waiting so am playing LoL and TF2 for PVP kicks and playing a few of this years nice RPG releases to keep me busy.

The thing with eve is that you are training your character even when you are in bed so you are only grinding for cash at the end of the day. It doesnt take up huge amounts of time really, just as much as you want to throw at it, with exceptions being the 0.0 sov warfare stuff which isn't an essential part of the game. Certainly different to wow for sure.

LOTRO has bad reviews? Source? As i have only heard positive feedback since it went FTP [if you're going by player feedback, then you should know better and should try it out yourself], and STO had bad reviews because of the state it was in when it was released, it's been polished up pretty well and it is a very populated game.

Take note, they have trials, so test them out for yourself.

Edit: What i've noticed with the majority of WoW players, is that when they try and look for another MMO, they seem to shun every suggestion because they basically want a WoW2, my advice, stick with WoW or play games besides MMO's.
