Mmo's

My view on this is and having quit wow multiple times for other mmo's nothing has came close to how polished and the ammount of content there is. thats what nearly 6 years does to an mmo tho.

I'm really hoping SW:TOR is differant. Going to redownload AOC tonight as i havn't played that since release.

Just try some more out, most have free trails or are FTP now. LOTRO has some really nice moments, it looks nice and has some good music but don't go in thinking about how it compares to WOW, just take it on it's own merit. Same goes with the rest as well really.

DDO was fun for a while, it's very different to wow, little polish but has some really fun parts.
STO was the same, space fights can be fun for a while, I'd have played it more if I'd bothered to get in to the social side.

Another vote for DDO, completely different to anything else out there, and you could spend your life messing around with class mixes.

I played EQ2 from 2004 till about three weeks ago.. only stopped playing because I'd been there, done everything and the only time I logged in was for raiding and my guild was slowly progressing but I'm running every other day and the only time I can run usually is when I'd raid (due to the baby and work) so I've had to give it up :(

Free to try, good game.. very CPU intensive and you'd be rocking if you had 8gig of ram. Looks quite good compared to a lot of other games and not as cartoony as WoW. PvP is good but the rewards are rubbish (title based after you get gear, not as good as the old title system which was flawed to heh), hopefully the next expansion will fix it but we always say that.

Edit: actually they have a free to play version aswell as a monthly sub, not sure what the free to play is like as I always stuck with the original but I believe the trial you can go on any server. Nagafen is the big PvP server

Been playing on the F2P server, although I cracked and bought a sub long ago. Like all F2P games the "free" players have restrictions. Which just annoy me but loads of people seem happy to play it that way.

Population on the F2P server very healthy, especially are lower levels. The non-F2P servers tend to be all endgame.

EQ2 got some interesting features coming: SW:ToR/GW companions and user made dungeons. The later sounds great until you find out you won't be able to play your toon but a generic char. People aren't happy about that.

Why would you want to start getting into a bland, stagnant mmo, when possibly the best mmo of all time is only weeks away?

humour yourself with some Asian betas until swtor is upon us!

EQ2 doesn't actually seem too bad with a silver membership, ie. a once off $10 payment. I can live with the silver level restrictions. Always liked it, just not enough to keep up a sub.

If you fancy something new in the MMO arena, take a look at Firefall coming soon. While there are a couple of MMO FPS already released, this is the first to really interest me.

SW:ToR? Got on preorder. Not sure I'll agree to the "weeks away" bit :p

The bronze/silver restrictions start to hit once you approach endgame or like to run dungeons. Since all the gear marked Legendary/Fabled which you need to buy unlocks for. You can use mastercrafted & quest gear pre-DoV. (Lastest max level expansion.) Everything in DoV marked Legendary or Fabled

You can easily blow the plat limit with just an afternoons questing in DoV.

No one plays Warhammer anymore? Am I the only one? Lol
There is free trial. Busiest servers are European karak norn and US badlands.
I play on karak azgal and can't complain :)

I gave up on it tbh, despite being a huge warhammer fan. T1 & 2 were always fantastic, but it all starts to go to hell from T3 onwards.

And the cash shop was just a kick in the teeth.

I am off MMOs for the moment. Will try TOR (depending on Uni work schedule and release date) and looking forward to Dark Millenium (will buy it regardless of the reviews due to the universe it is set in!) but other than that nothing is currently taking my fancy.

i would have to say try EQ2 extended, i played EQ2 on and off since launch in 2004 i think and i always loved the game got bored went to the next generic MMO then went back in a never ending cycle but its nice to have the free account so you can just go back every time your just waiting for the next big thing which in my case will be SWTor

I used to love MMO's but they all just feel the same to me now "go an kill 10 sheep and I'll give you this training sword" ZZZZZzzz

I thought WAR had some great idea's it's a shame not many of them worked.
I don't want much but the new big MMO should have great PvP/RvR, Public Quests (WAR) and instances (WoW)

Tried Rifts which I played for a bit but got bored of it very quickly
Not holding my breath for The Old republic or Guild wars 2

i've felt the same, gave up on wow months ago its all the same
tried rift which was enjoyable and i might go back to it and the only mmo i play a lot of is STO due to being a massive star trek fan and i cant wait to see whats in the future for the game.

But if your such a fussy gamer and shun the suggestions so far then either keep up with wow or give up and get on a console lol :P
