Hi all,

I rang up orange today and got 30 free picture messages on my c550 but everytime I try to send one it fails and just says that its left it in my outbox. I set up the phone according to the orange webpage and it still doesn't work :( Anyone got any ideas?

Are you pressing "c" after it says "message sent", as the phone lies to you about when it actually sends the message. If you press 'c' or the red hangup key to go back to the main screen it closes the GPRS connection and the message never gets sent.

It's also worth turning the phone off and back on again then retrying as GPRS connections aren't as persistant as people like to think.

Failing that, call Orange and they should be able to go through the settings etc with you and check everything is working correctly on your phone and sim.

How long should it take as when I try and send it the little G comes up for GPRS. Its now gone off and the message is still in the outbox with a little clock next to its icon. Any ideas what this means dolph? Cheers for the reply by the way :)

About two minutes to actually send it normally (after it says sent). The message is currently sitting in the outbox waiting for the next available GPRS connection. Try sending another message and leaving the phone alone once you click send for a few minutes and you should get both off ok. You can try highlighting the message in the outbox and forcing a resend using the options key, but for some reason it doesn't always work on the C series phones.

Cheers for the reply but it still doesn't work. It sent my monitor funny for about one second and then does nothing afterwards and says its failed still. Stupid phone :( Or stupid me ;)

I just rang orange and the guy basically talked me through the settings I already had got off the webpage. He said I'd have to ring 156 tomorrow and see if they can sort it for me :(

Have you actually tried turning the phone off?

The SPV's are great except they do show odd issues (usually with GPRS) when they need to be turned off. Clear your out box, turn your phone off for five minutes and it will probabily start working.

i had a problem, with my c500. Turned out that orange hadnt turned gprs on for my account (even though they said they had the first time). Try setting the gprs to always on, that may help

The guy at orange fixed it today! Turns out the port of 9201 is wrong and it should actually be 8080. Cheers for the replies all, and dolph - thank you :)
