Moana (2026)

Honestly I agree with most of what you said… but I’m far more concerned about how you managed to see Moana in 2916.
Was it shown on a hologram reef or did the robots finally perfect time-travel cinema? Either way, please report back from the future — do they ever stop making remakes?

Ah yes, a bit of a typo there on my phone. 2016 it should have said,

How many black and white people do you reckon are going to make their way into this film? There might be a few black actors but I would put a chunk of change that we won't see any white actors. Obviously it makes complete sense that there wouldn't be any but that doesn't seem to hold any weight when its the other way around.
There shouldn't be any white actors in the film as it's set in Polynesia but yes I'm not sure when Hans Christian Anderson wrote the Little Mermaid he was thinking she wouldn't be anything other than white

Thats kind of the point isn't it. There isn't going to be a peep about the lack of white actors in Moana and there would very much be a peep if there were. The same rules don't apply to anything related to race when its the "right" way around.

Oh I very much agree with you but it's just something we 'have' to accept due to eternally offended continually banging that particular drum.

Despite The Little Mermaid being one of my favourites I actually turned off the live remake as it was bobbins compared to the cartoon.

Eh, I really enjoyed Moana so I'll use my daughter as an excuse to watch this one too :p

The Live Action remakes aren't doing too great in my mind though. The only one I've really enjoyed was Aladdin. Beauty and the Beast was fine, even if it ruined 'be our guest'. I had high hopes for Lilo and Stich but left the cinema a bit disappointed the changed the story so much from the cartoon which was one of my favourites.

The real question is do they dare touch the Emperors new Groove. Probably one of the more underrated Disney films, in my opinion.

Edit: Tell you what, it would really ruffle some feathers if they made Pocahontas in live action. 'Savages' would go down well lol. But I bet 'Colours of the Wind' could be a feast for the eyes

Please explain why all mermaids have to be white lol.
Please show where I said all mermaids have to be white, I didn't say they had to be but I did say I'm not sure Hans Christian Anderson wrote her as black in the source material but if he did then I'm sorry Disney 'whitened her' in the cartoon

Hans Christian Anderson didn't write a Jamaican crab singing Under the Sea either. I wonder why people don't complain about that...

Really enjoyed Moana, I'll stick to watching the original though. I've never seen the point of the live actions films myself, if I wanted to see the story played out by real people, I'd rather they do plays and then I'd consider watching them in a theatre.

I agree, but that looks decent! Effects look great.

I just hope the lead has had some media training and doesn't go all Snow White on us :D

At the rate they are turning these out it won't be long before they launch new films in either animated or live action format.
