Moana (live-action)

No need to watch. It's just announcement > Youtubers > echo chamber on whatever forum you frequent and start complaining about race-baiting and wokeness.

I have to say, I've never seen Moana but The Rock is just so damn cool I might go for this. The man can do no wrong.

I'm not sure it needs a live action remake, but it is a pretty good story really so they could do worse.

Zero idea what the popcorn/race baiting/wokeness comments are about, care to explain @Scam?

What can I do but say you're welcome!

After a series of hilarious incidents of Spotify playing that damn song instead of anything I tell Google home to play I'm totally up for seeing him do that whole island routine.

Because Maui can do anything but float!
God it's in my head now and it's not even 6am.

“You’re Welcome”

Can’t seem them virtual signalling in this.

I dare them to race swap haha

The animation is fantastic. One of my favourite Disney films.

Let’s see if they can stick to the source as the original is perfect.

They would actually have to show the young girl failing for over half the film then overcoming the odds and learning from her mistake.

God they going to **** this up.

Why did I look in here….. going to have this in my head all day

Definitely one of the Disney highlights in recent years, animation is spot on and a compelling story with well written characters, not the least bit interested in a LA remake.

Oh just go and poke your head into the Little Mermaid thread, Marvel “refocus” thread, or I dunno the Scooby Do thread. If you want a laugh that is. I was merely being facetious, I’m not sure how the anti-woke brigade would start hating on this, but I’m sure they’ll find a way :D

My other half isn’t a fan of animation but perhaps I’ll give the original a whirl at some point.

I liked the 2016 Moana. This was from an era when Disney was still doing well with films like Frozen, Tangled and Brave. It was their comeback era after a bit of a lull in the 2000s (although Lilo & Stitch stands out for me!)

The problem is now - what's actually happened to Disney? They did well in the 1960s, 1990s and 2010s making fairytale films, and that's what makes Disney for me as an organisation. Now they have stopped the fairytale stuff and their stock market value has tanked. With Frozen etc only being 10 years old, surely it can't be too difficult to go back to the fairytale stuff? They're putting too much of their energy into Star Wars and Marvel and putting a political message into them. Can we not leave the politics at the door and let the kids (and grown-ups) enjoy a bit of escapism for 90 minutes? Or is that not possible any more?
