Yep, that's right. I have never had a mobile phone before now. Don't even know what its like to even send a text. Told you I was a n00b. I don't think I can take the mickey taking from my friends anymore so I'll have to get one.

But.. what one do I get?

Ok, my preferences. Up to £200, could use a decent camera.. I'm thinking 3 - 5 megapixel? I'd like to be able to surf the net and download stuff like applications. I wouldn't be a heavy user if thats of help, only make a call or 2 a day at most, and maybe a text message thrown in there occasionally. I don't mind if its touchscreen or not, I won't be using it to watch video really, but I'd probably make use of one with a large screen if its got one.

I've looked at the HTC Wildfire, the T-Mobile Pulse and one or two others but I'm not sure which one would fit me.

Thanks in advance!

pulse is 99 plus 10 topup today. 20 will then unlock it for your preferred network. at this price the wildfire cannot compete.

Also there is something about 6 months free internet and some other goodies with it today.

Is Android the best choice for a beginner? I have the Pulse, and its a great phone, but for around £200 for ease of use I would probably be looking at a second hand iPhone if second hand isnt a problem.

Of course, Spirited, if you are happy with trying Android, then the Pulse is a good choice, escpecially at £99

Iphone vs Android. If the user wants to engage with his device on how it works and customising it then there is no reason not to use Android.
If he doesn't want to think about it then he could just use the default apps - which are set up and ready to use anyway.

I find it hard to recommend an iphone when it is more expensive and older than the alternative. Remember, older is important because it means there is no warranty on it. £100 guaranteed device, or scratched (by design) £200 device without warranty.

Further the Pulse is great value. It isn't a device that is worth £100. If it was an HTC device it would cost between £180 (Tattoo, inferior to the Pulse) and £330 (Hero, very similar to the Pulse).
