A friend of mine was driving round a sought of block. He saw the mobile speed camera so he slowed down. He was going well below 30 however the camera still flashed. Being a bit annoyed he drove back round checking for temporary speed limit signs however there was known. Approaching the camera this time he slowed down to well below 20. The camera however yet again flashed him. Being a bit hacked off (too put it politely) he drove round again. I have no idea why and this time slowed down too below 10 mph. The camera yet again flashed him. Within the next week he received 3 tickets in the post. However they where not for speeding they where for driving with out his seat belt.

Is this legeal? Can he receive 9 penalty points for driving without a seat belt on the same journey. Ok i know you can for speeding but is driving without a seat belt the same? Also can a speed camera van pictures be used to prosecute you for driving with out a seat belt? Hes taken the point and paid the fine im just generally curious.

LOL.

So, he was driving without a seatbelt (against the law), and then drove past a camera taking photos of him, 3 times, lol.

Asking for it, really.

Edit: I imagine it doesn't matter what kind of camera was being used, the fact is, there's a 3 photos clearly showing him breaking the law.

A what??

Sorry but thats just funny, him driving around 3 times to check if it was a speed camera lol...silly boy hes now got 3 tickets because he forgot to wear a seatbelt...go and punch him in the face because if that was my mate id punch him and then laugh at what an utter retard he is.

Something doesn't quite sound right.
However it is completely legal, the fact he went past it 3 times means he passed the same spot 3 times, which could be 3 journeys...
Also with speeding it is possible to get multiple penalties from different cameras on the same stretch of road...

Pah, thought it sounded fishy.

Apart from the comedy spelling (which was probably unintentional) the OP fails :(

So the camera magically sensed that your mate didn't have his seat belt?

Reminders me of the story with someone doing the precise same thing, but for driving in a bus lane inside.

I'm calling rubbish.
