Is there a single one of these that isn't awful? I'm finding it increasingly common that every website has a dumbed down version for mobiles that lacks a lot of content. Facebook is currently the worst example as it tries to force you to use the annoying messenger app - but you can get around that by using a desktop specific link / bookmark. Just bog off and give me that sweet desktop site goodness!

Do these drive anyone else potty? So redundant in today's mega-screen smartphone world, I think.

But then you have to install their app, give them access to all of your data through permissions, let it drain your battery and push notifications constantly asking you to come back because someone you don't even like just posted something.

You don't have to have the Facebook app nor the messenger app to use Facebook messenger on a mobile... I just use the desktop site on my phone.

But yes I tend not to use any website that thrusts its crappy app at you. Oh my god trip advisor!!! Die.

Yep I hate mobile websites with a passion along with apps that usually come with bugs

Only thing I use as an app really is Facebook and messenger.

If I want to search eBay I will use this full eBay desktop, fair few sites I will rather go to desktop mode.

www.facebook.com/?m2w will give you the desktop site of facebook on mobile browsers. I don't like mobile sites either. My phone has a 1080p screen and I am more than capable of reading it or pinch/zooming if I can't.

Amazon app is rubbish, its easier to use the full site.. yeah most mobile sites are also poop.

Im sure ive come across an example where it works well, but I can't think of it, so that says something!

Amazon app is awesome, not sure how the full site is easier to use on your phone/tablet.

I don't think I've been on one mobile site/app and thought the desktop site is better apart from the Tapatalk ****e people use for forums

It's a hard life isn't it. Enjoy the wonders of science. Remember the days of croaking, disconnecting, 56k modems, 5kb/s speeds and endless popups.

Facebook is crap because facebook

Amazons app is great, one touch ordering with fingerprint id is epoc.

doesnt seem that different to the desktop version on pc?

1 click add to basket
2 click payment method
3 click delivery address
4 click delivery method
5 click done

Only mobile site I've found that I prefer to the desktop version is slashdot. Must admit I've stopped using a fair few sites since they went responsive rather than giving an option to choose.

Pcgamer is a pretty horrific example (at least IMO).

Somehow You missed the part where i said one touch ordering. (2 really i suppose)

1. Swipe to buy
2 .Touch id to confirm

Finish.

Edit :-can almost assume one "click" ordering would be an option on website aswell

I hate mobile web sites - ebay LOVES forcing me to mobile.. I wish there was a browser with an option to just lie and say "hi, im a windows desktop PC"... the option in chrome seems to be a general suggestion usually ignored... and dolphin browser seems to get totally ignored half the time

Haha yesss TripAdvisor is certainly annoying, i haven't used it in a while, but iirc it loads the normal page, then as soon as you search or do anything, it's like "would you like to view that in our app instead". They should store your answer in a cookie as to not keep prompting you with any future visits.

Agreed. TA is really really annoying to the extend that it is actually alienating me.

O2 Priority app is just as annoying with it's constant "Would you like to give us five stars?" popup. Not ****ing likely m8 if you carry on with this ****.
