first of all this is a repeat thread, from one in the cpu section.
apologies if i am not allowed to do this.
this is more of a motherboard question anyway.
hi guys i need some help.
i have a foxconn g41mx 2.0 mobo.
i can get my hands on a Q6600 b3 sl9um malay
2.40ghz/8m/1066/05b (i know its the older, hotter one)
my concern is i have looked at the supported cpu list here http://www.foxconnsupport.com/cpusup...1MX-K&cputype=
it says it supports the Q6600 but at 95w
but doing a quick google search the Q6600b3 is 105w
but didn't the b3 sl9um come out first?.
the mobo also supports cpu's upto Q9650
will my mobo support it as none of the cpu's listed has 105w
i know it runs hotter than a go stepping version, but i can get a good deal on it.
also i will be happy at 2.8-3.0GHz speed, so not bothered about getting more out of it
edit. i found this http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=29765 at intel site.
does this mean that they both share a max tdp of 105w but have a different Tcase and max. temp?
