I'm after upgrading my current S939 Opty 180 system, in order to allow my 8800GTs to stretch their legs a little.

Despite seeing some excellent specs on here for other people, everything I come up with seems to come out at around £500.

What do you think of the below? Am I being unnecessarily extravagant on any components and is there anything I could save some dough on? Ta. :)

MSI P7N Diamond nForce 780i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard with Free Creative X-FI Card £137.99 (£162.14)

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £129.99 (£152.74)

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF) £94.99 (£111.61)

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad-SLi PCI-E 750W Power Supply £89.99 (£105.74)

Cheers.

I was thinking the more expensive RAM may give me more overhead for an OC and allow me to run better timings. If the benefits are minimal, though, then that could save me a good £50, ta.

I do like the Corsair PSU's, having fitted a couple to other computers that I've built. Would the 620W be enough for a quad / 8800GT SLi setup?

Even over clocking q6600 to 3.6Ghz will only get you to the stock speed of the 6400ram so that will be fine. Not too sure on the wattage to be honest but i would have thought so

620w Corsair should be enough. Good PC6400 ram will OC to PC8500 I think. My GeiL PC6400 does 1000Mhz 5-5-5-18 and that's not the best around ;)
