Hi,

Could anyone give me advice on which cpu, mobo and ram would be best to get for about £250. Don't wanna spend much more. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I looked at some of the bundles on OcUK and couldn't decide which would be best, amd or intel... etc. Or maybe you can tell me something that would be better that I can buy separately?

Thanks,
KC

Intel Core 2 Duo E2160 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.80GHz (800FSB) - Retail
(£52.86)

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
(£45.81)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
(£17.61)

Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
(£129.24)

Total : £255.22

A cheap cpu and a fast motherboard will be faster (IMHO) than fast CPU and a cheap motherboard.

Great CPU and a great motherboard, which supports DDR2 and DDR3 and isn't a cheapy one. It's a little over buget however, but does include next day delivery and VAT.

Thanks Flibby... That's looking like a nice combination. Seems like everyone likes that Geil RAM... is it really that good? never used it before, just corsair and OCZ. how does it compare with them?

Processor looks good and mobo looks fine.. and it allows for DDR3 in the future which I like.

Thanks again.

It's as good as the OCZ stuff really, but the GeIL is currently on "This Week Only" offer so instead of £55 it's only £45 so it's a really good bargain. However just to note, that offer ends tomorrow lunchtime so if you were going to order and wanted the cheaper RAM from the offer then I would be hasty :-)
