After my second Gigabyte 965P-DS4 has died with the dreaded boot loop, I've decided it's time for a change. I want to overclock to around 3.0ghz (have been running 7*430 on the DS4), and am running 4x1gb Geil PC2-6400.

Raid isn't essential, but it needs to be a good overclocking board. SLI would be nice, but not essential.

Budget around £100.

I'll take a look at the Abit, but to be honest these issues I've had with the DS4 have put me off Gigabyte :(

If you don't need RAID then even the IP35-E will do 430fsb.
IP35 adds RAID & firewire & slightly different chipset cooling.

Quick bump, I'll probably be ordering the IP35 in the morning unless anyone has any better suggestions for around £100.

OK, sticking with the P35 chipset, which out of the Asus P5K or the Abit IP35?

They both seem to perform pretty well tbh, if i was to choose one i would probably go for the ABit, as the Asus is Xfire only.

there are a few having cold boot problems, not a lot.
& I dare say that as many Asus, Gigabyte, MSI etc. users have boot problems too - unfortunately the 100% perfect every time mobo doesn't exist.

Well I pushed the budget and ordered an IP35 pro in the end. Can't wait till tomorrow now, desperately want to get my rig back up and running so I can finish Crysis.

Quick bump for this thread - I'm in the same boat.

my second DS3 (965P) has died on me and I'm hopefully getting store credit instead of a replacement but I'm willing to double my budget to £150 to get a motherboard that will last and not break!

How is the IP35Pro going for you?

What's the best intel motherboard for around the £150 mark, which contains most of the boards :p what about the cheaper X38 boards?

I'm finding the IP35 Pro fantastic TBH. I flashed to the latest bios right away, and stuck the E6300 straight to 3.0ghz (7x430). I've had no issues whatsoever, it's been rock-solid so far
