Mobo FSB memory type question

Hello all, I have a couple of questions I can't get my head round atm and could use some help.

I'm looking at buying an Asus P5b or a commando mobo, core2 chip etc and don't understand how the FSB chip speed etc. all works out. The documented memory support for these boards is DDR 6400 (800mhz) and the chip speed (probably an E6400) is 1066mhz. So my questions are...

Is it worth buying DDR8500 so the whole rig runs at the same speed?

Is it better to buy DDR6400 and clock it up to 1066?

Does the P5b/Commando actually support DDR8500 it seems to be stated differently is various places. Custom PC for example have a commando rig with DDR8500 setup despite it saying its not supported on the official site Here

Any help would be appreciated

:)

buy pc6400 (ddr800). buy the team xtreem or cellshock ram. team xtreem overclocks to over 1000. dont bother is pc8400 its too expensive, cheaper ram will clock to same speed.

to find out the real fsb divide by 4

as for the memory pc6400 memory should be fine

PC2-6400 = 200MHz (800MHz effective)

Thanks for the quick reply. I was actually looking the the Geil ram on this week only as everyone seems to rave about it. Its on this week only atm too. Is this still a good buy? GeilRam

Also, OCZ do some 8500 for less than the 6400 you posted which is whats throwing me a bit. OCZ-8500

Good idea?
