Ok so i got a mobo from M&M and after trying for 3 hours i cannot get it to work so i need clues, help or just reassurance that it's Borked.
Basically after install i have power light, CPU fan spinning up, GFX card fan spinning up but nothing on the monitor just Blackness.
I have tried just about anything but would gladly try any suggestions.
After 3 hours i gave up and it took me ten minutes to instal my old mobo and all works perfectly.
Mobos' an Asus A8V.

Personally i am convinced the Mobo is borked as i got my old mobo working in minutes. What do you lot reckon ?

Help would be greatly appreciated as this has ****** me right off :p

thanks for reading and any help or suggestions.

I have just replied to your email Malc. Sorry to hear this, but that item was 100% working when it was posted.

Heres a 3DMark test run on 3rd August on this board as evidence it was not sent faulty. Motherboard was sold as I went PCI Express as you can see in Sig, as I also sold a 6800GT (AGP) and a 3500+.

Motherboard is Asus A8V Deluxe running the latest Stable bios from the Asus website.

A few ideas:

Are the two sticks of RAM in the Blue slots? Try one stick in the First blue slot nearest to CPU.

Are both power connectors connected?

Is it possible you have knocked any jumpers on the board?

What graphics card are you using, and is it definatley AGP 8x

It is September now !
Yes i tried 1 stick 2 sticks and Every option in every slot combo.
Yes i connected Both power leads.
Yes my card is AGP its a 7800GS+ and seems to run fine in my Current AGP rig :p
No it is Not possible i have knocked it or made any mistakes, i am Very meticulous when building, Very.

Also i don't think a public debate with you the seller is a good idea. Please leave future correspondence to email. If you had read my email properly you wouldn't have asked the above questions as i clearly stated in my email i had done the above and every other option during the 3 hour attempted instalation.

I am not starting a public debate, and I also don't know your level of knowledge which is why I gave some suggestions. A unexperienced builder could spend 3 hours piecing together a system.

If any mods read this perhaps its a good idea to remove the last two posts and this one so it stays on topic. Thanks

Still need help here Guys or have i bought 35quids worth of Scrap !!!

By the way has anyone got an English manual for this board i could borrow it may help. The one i got is foreign for ***** sake.
It's a Asus A8V Deluxe.

Here's your manual.

It took me two minutes to find this page. Click this link... http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Do you have a speaker on your motherboard? If yes, the number and frequency of the beeps will tell you whether the system has booted without firing up the monitor. If not the beeps should give you an indication as to where the system halts. You should find the beep codes in the manual from the above link.

You seem to have bought a hundred quids worth of grief for your thirty five pounds. I've sold upgrade cast offs to friends in the past but always at no risk to them. Had I sold you the board I would have taken it back and given you a refund. The vendor here says that the board ran well when it was last in a system. However, he may have damaged the board whilst removing packing and posting the board. On the other hand your vendor suspects that either your components are faulty or you have damaged the board. There's no absolute means of establishing whose if anyone's fault this is.

In the circumstances I'd suggest that you both save yourselves further grief by undoing the transaction with the purchaser paying the postage costs. You're probably both reasonable and honest persons. Give one another a break and get on with enjoying life.

Appreciate your suggestions and voice of reason :)
Not a situation i enjoyed but the problem is solved now. After giving up yesterday i prepared myself well today for a full assault on the board.
In close inspection of the mobo a small 8pin chip had become dislodged along its left legs side. I gently eased it back in and checked the rest of the board and installed as i did yesterday and all fired up sweet.Odviously it must have got dislodged in transit

Alls well that ends well.

I would advise anyone posting anything though to make sure it cannot move about inside the box. :)

Glad to hear that everything is ok now :) It wouldn't hurt to have emailed me so I knew everything was now ok.

The motherboard was sent in the packaging Asus provided and additional bubblewrap was used to minimise the amount of movement inside the box. The package was obviously thrown about a lot to cause that damage, and the parcel was insured for this reason (I paid £7.40 for postage!) should it have been permanently damaged and unusable.
