mobo problem

I recently have seen a problem a friend's motherboard where it said that their is a problem with the Mac address in the bios and flash memory

Just wondering what could have caused this problem.

And what is the mac address for.

The MAC address would normally refer to the unique identifier for the network adapter.

A BIOS reset would be a good start in point.

And am I right in saying to so a bios reset I will just need to remove the bios battery for 5 mins

That or use the bios reset jumper/button.

Obviosuly make sure you know which settings you'll need to restore afterwards.
