Just bought an iv impact in mm. Having inspected the socket I notice a pin is out of shape. I'm waiting on an 1150 CPU to arrive. Any suggestions on what I should?

Bought used from mm. Should I try the CPU first as it might work without issues or try to straighten the pin.

I've done this before, straightened the pin using a pin & magnifying glass. Assuming you dont apply too much pressure, it should work! Was it advertised on the MM with potential socket issues?

No it wasn't. Should I not try it first before potentially bricking it by breaking the pin.

While they may appear fragile, they do have some give in them and you can move them without snapping/breaking it. I would try and move it personally but I understand if you wanted to try the CPU first.

Contact the seller and ask them for advice. They may want it back for a refund or they might be happy for you to try and fix it first. But if you go poking around with it and break it for good, then they'd probably be well within their rights to refuse a refund.

This.

I would check with the seller before trying to fix it. I would also suggest trying to fix it before inserting a CPU.

Just pull it downwards gently with a fine sewing needle and a large magnifying glass

You'll have running issues or a fried CPU if you try it as it is

I'd straighten the pin before using it, but as said contact the seller first.

just straighten it, i have done this with even worse bent pins than that, its a 2 minute job lol

the pin does not even look badly bent just push it from the top of the pin slightly down and it will line up with the pin then after that
put the cpu in the socket when you get it
then latch it down with its lever then open the leaver back up and inspect the pin
and if it looks ok then its fine and working :)

use a Stanley knife blade against the row of pins I did this to straighten a whole row and it worked, on a fx6300 6 core and the pins were almost flat

You could straighten that easily as others have said :) I bought a cheap 2011 board with bent pins which was a bit of a nightmare, but 1156/55/50/51 pins are larger and easier to work with. :)
