Trying to find some info about using Moca network adaptors here in the UK.

currently using some plug in powerlines and steadly getting worse speeds of about 80mbps now compared to 120 when i first got them. wife has overrulled getting any new cables in the house/floorboards oroutside of the house so im thinking Moca is the way to go.

I'm not finding a lot of info on some of the finer things for the uk side of things as a lot of info is stuff directly realted to the Americans.

i have 5 runs of tx100 coax going into the loft with a antiference ms06 splitter thats rated from 470 to 790, so i guess il have to change the splitter but the cables look ok. not sure if i need a POE filter from splitter to ariel? im guessing il need soem moca splitters from the coax plates to split the networking and tv signal?

any help/insight would be helpfull?

You won't find much about it in the UK simply because UK homes were never traditionally wired up with high quality coaxial cable to each room as part of their construction, ready to be hooked up by the cable company, so there was never a market for it.

There's no reason MoCA won't work with what you have, it's possible that you won't even need to change the splitter if the filtering is between the input and the output ports - e.g. if all the outputs are linked then MoCA will work fine. I'd put a filter between the splitter and the aerial though, not sure you need to put them between your aerial sockets and your TVs.

My setup isn't as complex as yours, but I had success with some StarLink MoCA 2.5 Ethernet-Adapters. I also bought a coax cable tester which was handy to trace the cables.

I'm using a PoE injector at the the end of the line for an AP though, not trying to run PoE over the coax. So:

Core switch -> CAT6 -> MoCa 1 -> coax to other room > MoCa 2 -> PoE Injector -> AP

Il just update this thread. I went for it in the end and couldn't be happy with it from initially testing is done today. Im now getting my full speeds from Sky 900/110 to the computer from just plugging things in. Its cost a bit more all in all, but im not to far off from what a 2400mbps powerline set would have cost which was the other option and i dont think i would have got the speeds im getting now. cost me £140 for the adapters and about £70 for the splitters, filter and coax cables. I could have spent £20 less but it would have been a mish mash of cable types and colours. Il post a more detailed review latter with pics.

I'm just about to take the plunge on a couple of adapters would love to see your set up.

Will I need to change anything in the loft, where all the cables run into the aerial? I can't understand your (expertly drawn) diagram.

Sorry been out the country for the last few weeks.

Yer had to swap my Aerial box and add a filter. The old box maxed out at 700mhz. MOCA is using i think 1125 to 1625, this way to can have freeview and moca on the same cable and them not interfere, however freesat will interfere with MOCA. You need a filter between the aerial box and the aeriel also so that it dosent become a transceiver, something that OFCOM wouldn'tbe to happy about if they found out. The filters also reflect signal back in, improving signal in the network.

I also got a new TV splitter in my living room, I had a two into one Y splitter from TV and Sky BOX into the socket and swapped to a MOCA compatible one that had 3 outs more for neatness then anything else as to avoid a Y splitter into a Y splitter.

Il take some photos tomorrow and try to upload them if i can.
