Mod 1 Test

Cheers guys for all the advice and tips, i must say i'm looking forward to it now, nervous but excited too:D

I've owned my R6 for 4 months today and it's killed me just cleaning it all the time lol.

how much did you revise for your theory
did you read a DSA manual back to front?

Theory is easy. Just get the Driving Test Success (latest one) which goes for £6-7. That has all the questions, looks like the test and all hazard perception along with an explanation on how hazard perception actually works which helps massively to pass it.

Got near enough 100% on both car and bike theories just by running through the mock tests a few times.

There are also some nice apps you can get on your phone which will help as you can pull it out and run through some questions when you have some time. The bike one I had would also show you where your weaker areas were and show more questions on that area.

Yeah the theory is fairly straightforward, I barely studied for my theory test and got through it. There's quite a bit of free stuff on the net so I didn't buy anything. I only did a tiny bit of revision the night before while I was on break at work but if you're a driver you know most of it. I went through a Youtube questions and answer video, did a few mock tests and a handful of hazard perception tests too and that was enough.

I passed my mod 1 yesterday, got 4 minors. First was figure of 8 was too wide (I had dropped the bike on my leg the day before practising which put me off), then the observation just before doing the U-turn wasn't good enough (I thought it was but ok). Got 48kph on the emergency stop and 47 on the swerve so had to do it again and got 50.

We'd practised the whole thing the day before and none of it is really hard its just the test conditions really do get the nerves going, I wasn't too bad though. Dropping the bike the day before did have some effect though, I turned too tight and lost my balance basically, was really dumb when I'd been doing it no problem all day. The guy who did the test after me put his leg down on the U-turn and failed, felt bad for him.

I agree, the nerves really got my blood pumping. I havnt heard of taking the figure of 8 too wide though? thought you could go really wide on it and that's what I did without any problem.

Congrats btw, that's the hardest part out of the way!

I kicked the cone on my avoidance test but luckily it didn't fall down so was only a minor! It did the wobble thing for a good 3-4 seconds though.

The only time I ever came close to the cone was on the test, in all the practice runs I did I was completely clear.
