I was thinking at sometime getting a second hand 360 has there's no point getting a new one and instantly voiding the warranty and moding with new fans LED and so on. I was just wondering if theres any mods that are actually good for the 360 and not just cosmetic.

For eg more efficient cooling inside the 360 actually improving it's life expectancy.

I don't understand why people waste there money on upgrading the cooling in hope of not getting 3 rrod when MS will replace the console for free anyway...

If the new consoles are proven to be 'reliable', then I can't see any issue with modding..

But I'd never mod an older 360 simply as no mods on the planet will guarantee RROD immunity..

I know 3 people that have done the X-Clamp mod, 2 of which had RROD months later..

Well your warrenty was voided for something else also but i don't think the OP is interested in that(;))

I would agree it's worthwhile though if you have already voided the warrenty for another reason

Ive replaced the thermal grease on mine, Put a splitter in the air duct and put wads of Stinger Roadkill Expert sound deadening material all around the console.

Here's a link to the Stinger stuff - Here It is 36 square foot though! :p You can get less for about £14.99.

It runs very quiet compared to my mates, which has the fabled quiet BenQ drive which isnt quiet at all!

I haven't done any of this modding to either of my consoles and both run quiet(sammy drives) now my old hitachi sounded like an aeroplane taking off though :p
