I am thinking of having a bit of a re-invention of the way I dress at work over the new year. I have always been a shirt and smart trousers guy at work, we aren't forced to wear ties, so it's a sort of smart casual, although lots of people do wear suits.

I was thinking of getting a 3-piece. I haven't worn a waistcoat since the late 90's and wondered what the current thinking was on them. In a business of about 1,000 people, I can only think of one person whoe regularly wears one, and I have always liked the look.

So, does anyone wear a 3 piece suit?

It's not about age and it's not about stature, it's about either feeling comfortable or not. Thinking about it, this goes for all business wear, 3 piece or otherwise.
Wear what you like. I've been rocking double breasted throughout its unfashionable period. If you go against the grain make sure what you have is well cut and looks deliberate rather than you just being a spaz in a bad suit.
These are the kind of lines that I have been thinking along :) I am thinking full new outfit, new shirts, new shoes, nice 3 piece suit. It will scare/shock/amuse the **** out of the peeps at work, but that's half the fun :)

Any advice on where to go? The last few 'interview' suits I bought were all from M&S and they have never let me down. Where else is worth checking out? Online or high street I don't mind, and I don't mind spending a bit, but not ridiculous. (A few hundred quid for a nice suit is an investment, any more and I won't get the value from it)

I've been wearing the same huntsman suit for 9 years. I had to smoke a lot of cigarettes to make sure I didn't grow out of that sucker. Saying that, I'm tempted to downgrade for the benefits of a more fashionable suit.

I get the urge to break the mould though, sometimes business people all look the same in their pastel shirts and chunky solid colour ties. Get that three piece and rock that ****. Get a monocle and top hat while you're at it.
hmmmmm maybe a silver topped cane too :)
