Modern game audio

If you right click your desktop and go into display settings, select the 'phantom' AVR screen and select 'disconnect display' and apply.
Windows will no longer extend your display (your mouse won't move off screen), but audio via HDMI will remain.

...at least this is how I had it running a couple years back without issue, not sure if things have changed since then. These days I run GPU -> HDMI -> Display [LG C2] -> eARC -> AVR without issue, but I can test my above suggestion when I get back home tonight

Can't find "disconnect display" option. As soon as I select "show only on 1" it disables audio

Hmm tried and I have the same result as you, unfortunately. I wonder if something has changed with updates over the years.

Anyways one silly but simple fix is to drag your phantom display far away and up to the right. Windows will bring it back down as you can see in the image below, but there is a tiny gap there. The mouse won't be able to get over this little virtual ditch, so it'll stick to your main monitor.

As someone who has worked as a sound designer and producer for 20+ years I can safely say that Hunt Showdown has the best audio of any game I’ve ever played, and by some distance.

It has such a huge effect on the gameplay as well.

I remember the first time I found the benifits of EAX. I was playing Unreal and there was a waterfall and as I turned around the sound ended up coming from behind me. Mind was blown.

I had a 5.1 system for DVD's as I had bought a Creative Labs DXR2 with DVD Decoder card and a 2x speed DVD Drive and wanted the full experience. But actually being in control of where the audio was coming from was completely unknown to me.

Now, there does seem to be a lack of subtlety, everything is turned right up. I generally turn all music off anyway as I find that it's completely overpowering. The only games I keep the music on for really are the Fallout games, they do manage to work it in very nicely.
