Over the last few years I've been building up my back catalogue of modern horror.

Here's what I have so far (not all are exactly "Horror" I admit)

300; 2001 Maniacs; Cabin Fever; Cursed; Dark Ride; Dominion; Freddy vs Jason; Halloween (2007); Hostel; Hostel 2; House of a Thousand Corpses; House of Nine; House of Wax; Resident Evil; Saw franchise; Silent Hill; Tamara; Amityville 2005; The Cave; The Dark; The Descent; Devils Rejects; The Fog; Hills Have Eyes 1+2; The Ruins; Skeleton Key; Texas Chainsaw Massacre + The Beginning; Turistas; Van Helsing; Wong Turn; Wolf Creek

That gives you an idea of the sort of thing I'm after - anything out there really worth seeing that I've missed from the past few years?

I'd only add that you are missing some good world cinema horror, particularly the jap and korean stuff. I saw R-Point the other night and thought it was great stuff. Then theres the obligatory Ring series, grudge series, Takashi Miike's films etc etc

Can't think of anything offhand other than Jeepers Creepers - which isn't that great beyond the first half hour or so (i.e. at the point when you see the monster) but then again it isn't much, if any, worse than some of the other films (Cabin Fever I'm looking at you) you've got on your list anyway so you might want to consider it.

Most of the films on that list are poor quality stuff, particularly the teen slasher flicks and the torture porn. Aim higher. Try some J-horror, like Ringu or Pulse.

Was that the Chinese version? :p

Yes, I'm aware it's all very mainstream - that's what I was looking for (in this instance)

And lol @ my typo :D

Check out Martyrs, it's foreign, french director I think, I can't remember what langauge it's in though.

It's not scary as such but it's pretty damn disturbing.

Just watched House of 1000 Corpses, the end was quite dark, however can any one recommend anything similar, quite cheesy but none kind of asian horror? Wasnt keen on devils rejects which was follow up. Watched Martyr recently, didnt really like it, only really gruseome at the end but the whole film just felt a bit dettached.

Korean flick "The Guard Post", aka "GP 506" is one of the most impressive in recent years.

If you like tension-based movies, have a look at the recent British movie "Hush". I thought it was great.

Not in the mood to go into too much as I've been writing about movies all week, but there's a ton of impressive horror coming forth worldwide at the moment.
