Modern Warfare 2 - HELP FOR NOOBS THREAD.

Got to level 8 now, any hints tips on "create a class". So far I just use the same basic class each game (First Recon).

the whole beauty of create a class is it lets you play with what weapons and perks you want.

Personally i love the combo of the Rocket Launcher and M4. Just try different guns till you find a combo you like. Then create a class with that in. Chances are there will be more than one combo you like, hence you have 4 slots :)

It really isnt that complicated, i first booted it and thought damn thats a lot of new content to understand, but its a piece of cake, I like the new perk older brother upgrades very nice edition!

at rp2000 as for guns run down of how upgrades work (unlockables):

10 Kills: Grenade Launcher Attachment (I believe replaced hand held frags)
25 Kills Red Dot Sight
75 Kills Silencer
150 Kills Scope
300 Kills Extra Magazine Capacity

You can only choose one though bare in mind, so you cannot equip silencer and dot sight for example

You've also got:

Shotgun attachment (follows on from the Grenade Launcher)
Holographic sight (follows on from RDS)
Heartbeat sensor (follows on from Silencer)
Thermal scope (follows on from ACOG)
Full-metal jacket rounds (300 kills)

The number of kills required for particular unlocks depends on the gun in question. For example, a silencer is the second unlock for assault rifles but the first for sniper rifles.

Here's a brilliant class for you to all try out:

Riot Shield
Your choice of machine pistols or shotgun
Semtex or Blast Shield and Stun Grenades
Scavenger Pro
Stopping Power Pro
Commando Pro

The extra range from Commando means your one-shot kill shield lunges can be done from ridiculously far away. Just make sure they don't sidestep you and shoot you in the behind ;)

I'm finding the MP silly hard on this. I was pretty good at W@W, but I struggle to get positive ratios on MW2.

I thought the bigger maps would suit but it isn't working out that way.

its the opposite for me, i was fairly average at W@W bit on MW2 my kill ratio is over 1.50 and ive had streaks of 10 and 12

loving the afgan map with the plane in the middle

I do OK most of the time, but invariably will go on a 4 or 5 death streak. I just can't figure out why.

The Death Streak perks do my head in also.

I looked at Killstreaks yesterday. Am I right in assuming that you cannot get the Airstrike thing unless you get 5 kills in a row? I never ever get 5 kills in a row :(. For some silly reason I thought you could re-arrange the order, but then obviously everyone would unlock the best killstreak bonus and assign it to a killstreak of 1 or 2.

Use the Harrier killstreak because it's insane for the amount of kills you need to get it :p

In the last game it just dropped off bombs, now it does that, then stays above the battlefield machinegunning people.

how many kills do you need to get it?

i managed to get this from an enemy drop, killed the guy and stole his package:D couldnt believe my luck when i saw all the kills racking up, could here the machine gun bursts and then the kills went crazy, i think i got 8 or 9:cool:

To explain a killstreak (care package)..

It's basically a mystery gift via supply drop. You may get extra power, or even an AC-130 but it's pure pot luck.

Also, if someone kills you then they can steal the package/item :p

was going to mention the care package which i think is 4 kills, you can also steal the other teams, which i did on a few occasions, had an emp, pavlov? 1 good thing about the killstreaks is if you obtain it then die you retain it to use after you respawn.

On level 22 now.

With regards to level 5 "V" perks, is the only benefit of reaching them the big XP bonus? I have Commando Pro and Marathon Pro (level IV) to get level V XP is listed but no other description. Will I gain any other boost to these perks or only XP. (If it is only XP I may spend time getting other Perks up to Level IV 1st).

I tried Spec Ops for the 1st time yesterday and did the training mission as the 1st one. Any hints for completing that in under 35 seconds? I have barely done it in 45 seconds. I use the default weapons, is that where I am going wrong or do I just need to be faster in general?

You get more xp for completing challenges, so its always a good idea to switch when you have maxed out 1 thing, just a few perks i havent opened to pro, like cold blooded as im unsure what it acutally means for the challenge.

For spec ops ive been able to do it it in 35.3 seconds, just cant shave that .3 off or i hit 1 civie due to bullet penetration on the last few targets, it seems to go through the 2 baddies and hit the civilian behind. I use the smg and pistol as they let u run faster, or so it seems.

For Cold-Blooded Pro you need to destroy enemy sentry guns, harriers, helicopters or UAVs whilst using the perk. It takes quite a while even with Stinger Missiles!

Can I ask what the difference is between the RDS and Holographic Sight? Apart from the lovely blue tint!

Use 2 pistols, the M9 and Desert Eagle, start with whichever you like, work your way through, one bullet, one kill. Once you get inside the building, shoot the guy behind the civ in front of you, and to the right line up the 2 tango's in a row and shoot with one bullet to get both. This will increase your accurace to above 100%.

As you go upstairs switch gun, knife the target, clear out the upper level, trying to use one bullet on each target.

Jump down, but as you jump reload, you should finish reloading as you land, and as you do start popping off!

The last 2 guys before the exit, if you're lucky they will be lined up for a 1 bullet kill for both.

And leg it to the end!

You should get an accuracy bonus of around 4-5 seconds, and more if you went over 100%. I dont think its physically possible to actually run through and get everyone in under 30 seconds, however my time was about 34, with 5.3 seconds knocked off for accuracy. And thats how ye do it :) Hope that helps.
