Hi all I'm sure someone can help............

I'm replacing a motherboard on a Packard Bell PC which has a block connector for the Power Switch,Hdd Led,Pled etc this does not marry up with the replacement motherboard headers.

Is there something you can get to modify the wiring in any way or is it a DIY job

Cheers

Cutting the block is the only way I think.

What I normally do if someone needs an upgrade on a system like a PB is just splash out 30/40 quid for a new case.

My day job is for PC World where those machines come from, I can assure you, for the older ones, even WE can't get those front panels anymore. It's going to have to be a DIY job.

I use a Double-Row IDC Cable Connector for a ribbon cable relative to the number of header pins on the board.

With a multimeter I just stuck a pin in each of the female slots of the connector to determine which wire in the ribbon cable was right and then just soldered to the correct position on the case buttons.

Sure its a bit time consuming but its as clean a look as you can get.
