Modnation Racers Beta (EU)

I'm not overly taken with this yet so far. Extremely long loading times but havn't yet managed to use any weapons etc.

what's smash cars like?
 
Any way to change the camera? :confused:

I know it's a beta, but I'm not terribly impressed with the actual gameplay, the online world integration looks well done though. Framerate seems a bit poor as well.

Seems they spent all their time on the online and customisation, and forgot the racing :p
 
8:55pm, just grabbed from the PSN Store - for the sweepstakers out there.

Actually having powered on the PS3 for the first time this year, it has just struck me how bad the XMB has become now. There's howmany instances of the PS Store logo now...?

Anyway sorry back on topic...
 
Very slow load times, not sure on the camera but I didn't really give the game a proper go. Will play it more at the weekend and hopefully it does turn out to be better than initial impressions!
 
There's a hub type area, a bit like Home, but with karts.
If you go there you'll find loads of other things to do.
It's all a bit sluggish atm and I find the menu systems pretty unintuitive, but that's what these betas are for I guess, to iron out the bad bits.
I like the character customisation, it's pretty detailed, not tried the track editor yet though.
 
Just been on and on the podium one of the racers in the main arena has a helgan design it looks well cool , im not sure if there is a way of capturing in game photos but the design looks spot on :cool:

Its good that you have the option to lock your design or let people improve upon it ,if you dont :D
Also im glad they have done a beta or this game would have loads of problems with it all being about online create share and race.
 
I got into the US Beta but didn't bother with this.

Have they fixed the lag, frequent server timeouts and excessively long loading times?

im afraid not i had the us beta , but grabbed this the other day to see if it was any different i had a better online experience with the us version :(
Hopefully the eu will improve or it maybe the eu are playing it more not sure what it boils down too .

Have you still got the us version and is it still playable ?
 
Slow loading times are a bit of a pain, but join one of the series races from the main circle area and you get a nice series of 4 races on all the tracks against real and ai opponents.

Played really well and the weapon upgrades if you hold onto the stash also work well.

Some really good mods shared by people too - I currently have a little Stig driving round.
 
Been playing this all day, apart from the long loading and a little bit of lag, I really like it. Is there an option to save pictures of car/character like the pics in this thread? as I don't think I saw one, so I'm guessing capture card or just take pic of the screen?

Only thing I'm really not liking is the fact the game seems to like screwing me over. Only won one race, when three times I should have come first, but twice the server goes down. Always when I'm in first, never goes down when I'm not winning :mad:
