Is there any guidance on this, not a huge issue but if a thread title is changed by some unknown Mod for some spurious (non rule breaking) reasons without any note in the thread that it has been changed then to other posters it looks as though the OP was responsible for the content of that title when they may not be. Should there not be some guidelines concerning this as the personal views or bias of the unnamed mod then potentially get passed off as the personal views of the OP. An ordinary post wouldn't usually be edited for spurious reasons but rather for rule breaks etc.. why should a thread title be different?

I've posted this for comment in GD as it isn't really a huge grievance nor aimed at any particular thread but one I was wondering about in general as I've noticed it occur a few times and was interested in other's views. If this is inappropriate then I apologise and please move to the forum discussion forum. (Obviously I realise that starting a thread about thread titles changing is putting the title of this thread at rather obvious risk of being altered :D )

i suggest OP name change to Whiner, then change thread title to "im a Whiner so im going to Whine", then delete his post and replace it with a pic of a bottle of Wine, then permaban his sorry ass :)

its a fair point though tbf OP ;)

Thread titles only get changed if the op has requested it via RTM or email.

Only time I have edited a thread title was due to a spelling mistake :p

Can you link to a tnread that you believe has had a title changed?

What was the original title?

As pointed already post in the forum content Discussion if you feel something has been changed or you have a problem.

I change them if they are vague or intended to get people to come in withoguh knowing what the thread is

such as

"what should I do about this?"
