whilst i am very thankful of the efforts most of you put in around here ive got a problem that neads a mod / admin to deal with it and quite frankly its getting ******* ridiculous.

allow me to explain, i had an MM transaction go wrong, a member on these forums took nearly 3 weeks to cough up half of the payment for a cpu i sold him via paypal and told me he would put the other half in my bank account.

Two months later I was going through my bank statements and suddenly remembered the money for this cpu and realised it was no where to be seen. so i go in touch with the buyer via e-mail, to no avail. after several e-mails i got a reply back informing me that a pin had come off the cpu and therefore he wasnt going to be paying me the other half of the money and this is over 2 months after he initially got the cpu.

This CPU spent its life inside my PC without being removed once, when it was removed it was done so in the professional manor with which i have removed HUNDREDS of cpu`s in the past, it was packaged in its original AMD retail packaging and posted to the seller via special delivery BEFORE i had received the payment as he claimed he needed it urgently and i am stupidly naive.

now a mod was supposed to be dealing with this, i wont mention his name as i dont want to be that petty but quite frankly he`s been about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. allow me to give you an example...

first contact sent on October 15th,

reply received of

Will investigate.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

sent e-mail on 20th october asking if there was any news, no reply.

mailed mod on the 16th november asking for any news... no reply

I'll look in to it later today.

The mods are volunteers and are under no obligation to sort out your problems. They have a hell of a lot of work to on the forums, on top of their 'real life' stuff. I'm sure the case with most if not all of them is that real life comes before the forums.

Give them a break, it's not their fault you handled the deal poorly and got stung as a result.

To be fair its not really the mods place to regulate transactions between members of the forum. To offer advice to sellers/buyers, set ground rules etc fair enough.. but you exchanged goods with the other member as a private sale.

Simply by helping you slightly, they are doing more than they are required to do.

so by your logic the mods are under no obligations to remove con men from the OCUK forums ? nice.

also he took the job on in the first place.

It's not really their place to sort out your problems, the MM is a free service, and they're not obliged to do anything for you. That they're helping at all is a favour.

For you to post a snotty post like this is a little ungrateful, don't you think?

Also.. it's not their job.

I had to refrain from posting my initial reply to this thread as I would have been banned, but needless to say I think that you are being an arse.

I'm sure they will, but bear in mind these people are just people. Everything they do is unpaid and voluntary, and on top of any work, business, social interests they have 'in real life', and bitching about them isn't going to make them get any more helpful, is it?

He has little to be grateful for, they owe him nothing and vice versa but the mod shouldn't have promised to sort it if they couldn't or wouldn't end up doing so

I wish debate were that easy my friend, merely saying 'means nothing' doesn't necessarily make it so

Poor by the mod in question to promise something, however consider the volume of emails that individual gets. We are speculating here anyway, this thread will close soon and we have only heard one side of the argument. Which is biased.

He's been provided with a very useful place to buy and sell, for free, which he's been using. So yeah, he should be grateful.

He should also be grateful that whoever this don is has tried to help him, and not be stamping his feet when the don doesn't put this stranger's problems in front of his own.

What is the threshold of e-mails I can receive before I can start breaking promises?

I agree about the bias

I can't see any promises anywhere?

thats pretty much my point, if the mods had of come along and said "tough im afraid, nothing we can do" id of just gone and visited the guys house but instead investigation was promised that simply hasn't materialised.
