MODS...your attention please...

This argument seems pretty minor, if you don't want to find out what happens, stay out of the thread, why is that so difficult? it solves the issue completely

What about the following scenario...

Episode 1 of a show is shown in the US on a Sunday night, episode 1 airs in the UK on Friday.

I record the show and watch it on Monday morning. I go into the thread to discuss Episode 1 but folks are talking about what happened in episode 2 which was just shown in the US the night before. By rights, they should wait until Friday to discuss episode 2 but by posting early they could inadvertently ruin something.

Am I expected to only enter the thread between Friday when it airs in the UK and Sunday night when it shows in the US for risk of reading something that might ruin things for me?

I was under the impression if it hadn't aired in the UK, people were supposed to use spoiler tags?

Most people do but you always get some idiots who don't bother, also if you're email subscribed, the tags don't work. Not an issue for me as I just check the forum for new posts but it's been a problem for others.

I didn't know you could get emails about threads, how annoying would that be for anything in GD lol

Yup, if you choose to subscribe you'll get an email the first time a new post is made since the last time you visited.

I don't use it but it is useful if you want to monitor a thread but don't want to keep checking the forums.

Unfortunately, even if the latest post is in spoiler tags, the email shows what was posted in it's entirety.

To the OP. If a thread about a tv show has in the title of the thread "spoilers" then obviously there talking about the latest eps and if you dont want to know the latest eps just do not enter it. It is your responcibility if you want to know what is happening currently or not regardless of where its aired. Not other people.

The forum introduced spoiler tags so any spoilers should be used with these tags. Sometimes it can slip through if someone doesn't know how to use them or just forgot which can be a honest mistake sometimes.

So please stop your whining about spoilers in tv shows. I mean if you click on a topic about something doesnt matter what its about its generally going to be discussed so if you dont wana know then dont enter them.

Well, your point is moot as the mods have already replied to this thread and said that the old rule stands, regardless of spoiler tags, if it's not UK aired, it cannot be discussed with some exceptions to be clarified on a case by case basis by the mods.

Also see post 42 of this thread for a potential scenario, what's your take on that? :D http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=21639618&postcount=42

The only people complaining about this are those that throw the toys out the pram because god forbid we see it three days before you do!

Well no, not completely. I personally couldn't care less if someone has seen an episode before me. What I would have an issue with is the same people then discussing it on a forum which states they are not to be discussed until aired in the UK.

This seems to be a big misconception in this discussion. Most people are not genuinely bothered if someone has seen the episode before them, the issue is the DISCUSSION OF THE UNAIRED EPISODE. This is a difference I have posted a few times on the subject and even once before on this thread...

Again, I have already posted about this - the threads on this sub-forum are NOT explicitly to discuss the episodes. They are also used to discuss other info on the shows e.g. cast news, air dates for new series etc. Unless someone uses the spoiler tag then people will inadvertently see spoilers. The problem occurs when selfish people don't use the spoiler tags. Why is that so difficult? It solves the issue completely

Points made and rebutted already. Please take time to read the thread before posting

If you venture into these threads, then surely you can only blame yourself, and those who don't use spoiler tags? Stay out of the thread, until you're up to date on whats going on with the series, problem solved

Well that can be easily solved without having a rule against discussion about episodes that haven't aired here yet:

- Have rules so that people must use spoiler tags and post a bit of info as to what the spoiler is about before hand in bold and capitals and if people don't then they get a warning and if they continue to do it then suspended etc.

Of course mods will have to check the thread constantly, however, that would be much easier for them if people RTM the post.

But you can be up to date with whats going on UK time, venture into the thread and people are posting about the latest episode that just showed in the US, this is the problem issue.

Did you even read (understand) what I had written?

What upsets me that even if the programme is aired in this country, people spoil it because they've still watched it before me.

(See what I did there?).

The only solution is for everybody to watch it at exactly the same time.

When I say, up to date, I meant by watching the US aired one before visting the thread

Yeah I get that, but rather than moaning about it and expecting it to change why not just either accept that by venturing into a specific thread you will be subjected to spoilers, but by doing so you can also discuss all the stuff you said, accept that not everyone uses spoiler tags (which is annoying)

Or just avoid the thread at all costs until you've seen the latest episode that aired in america.

If it bothers you that much, you're probably best just staying out of those threads

So everyone watch the US version then?

I think you missed the point I was making.
Even if we hold to the original rules somebody will spoil it for me because they will have watched it before me.
This is the nature of threads discussing a TV program, it doesn't matter when they were aired because everybody watches at a different time.
