Lucky that you have a safe SSD and more so that a bad occurrence of events could have happened whilst away and took a lot more than the cable

Are there any computer cable and connector/adaptor manufacturing companies based here in the UK? I suspect not, but it would be good to know for those of us who like to buy British...

Not likely to find any these days. We used to make all sorts of computer cables back in the day but with China able to manufacture and ship cheaper than we could buy the materials for we as a company had to adapt and go into other markets.

Molex is the original designer of the sata power connector so if you can find a genuine one it'll be properly tested and rated unlike the China copies and probably cost 10 times as much.

I showed it to an electrician. He said the problem looked local and was probably caused by the molex part of the connector not being properly connected. It may have come slightly loose over time due to fiddling / upgrading the pc.

Certainly was an I opener and I hope a warning to any of you who also have similar cables.... get rid ASAP!!!

I now turn my pc off when i leaving the house
