Hi all

only a quicky

Initial reaction to this drive following a clean install - disappointing. Only in that the Win 7 score shows only 5.9 - far and away the lowest scoring component in my system. I bought this drive specifically to eliminate / reduce the bottleneck in terms of this score but this is no better than my Samsung
F3.

Does this score look correct? Or is this a case of real world benefit will be greater than some artifical score?

Cheers

Windows Experience Index is a bull**** benchmark for anything.

I hope you did not expect that drive to perform like a SSD though.

It doesn't matter what mechanical drive you install, Windows will only select the speed as 5.9 even if the drives were faster than SSD parts. Its something windows has done rather than the drive being slow as on the whole the drives are pretty fast :)

ok mate thanks, I look forward to experiencing some of this speed in real world. ;)

Yeah the method Windows Index uses to test will only ever return 5.9 highest for a drive that uses any mechanical component (under current specifications).

The drive isn't going to perform exactly like an SSD but you should see a decent overall increase in performance over pure mechanical drives.
