Momentus XT!

Have just got a Compaq Mini 311c and was thinking of swapping my Kingston 40GB SSD from my desktop into it and getting a new SSD for my desktop.

Seeing this started me considering one but as I intend to dual boot I am thinking it would be no good. These drives are only going to make sense for single OS setups surely?

I guess that running multiple OS would not matter, as the drive is just caching in SSD the most frequently used files, so net result would just be less files cached for each OS (only trying this would show what the performance hit would be).

I am looking to get one of these for my MBPro with the idea of running Windows (my corporate build) in Bootcamp. Using VMWare Fusion I will run that from within OSX and it will be interesting to see how much difference the XT will make.

These drives are like gold dust. It's been months now and I've yet to find a single online retailer with this in stock. Those that do have it listed just keep pushing back their expected dates further and further.

Spotted a few on ebay but cost would be rather high once you pay all import costs.

Anyone else had better luck than me?

I've got the 250GB coming tomorrow, only one that i could find in stock.

Found on another site for £84...i wanted the 500GB one but 250 will be more than enough i suppose.

Changed my mind about this, sending it back - impulse buy!.

I'm looking at the 500GB drive for a small upgrade on my laptop. I'm just wondering what sort of temperatures people are seeing with this drive in a laptop? My current 640GB Samsung M7E pretty much stays within 12C or so of ambient (at 38C right now, seeding 102 files in utorrent and watching 720p mkv)
