Hi all, got a bit of a dielema,I've got 2 cars & I've buying another car soon, I dont need 3 cars so I'm trying to decide what one to get rid of.

Mondeo is - 97 / P Turbo diesel ghia, 148,000 on the clock but it will need a couple of rear tyres soon & it does wear the front tyres out in about 18 K, also it doesn't like starting in the cold weather, it does start but you need to turn the ignition on and off a few times to get the glow plugs hot, I tried changing them a couple of years ago which helped but it's never started " just one touch " when it's cold.

Rover 400 - 99 T ,1.6 petrol, 73000 miles,AIR CON, got 2 problems with it, 1. Engine idles at about 2500 RPM when sitting in traffic, blipping the throttle returns it to normal but when you drive off & stop again it's back to 2500 RPM, 2 slight water leak from heater control valve whcih will cost about £30 to sort, but the reving problem might cost a lot more.

I've been offered £500 p/ex for the rover or £100 for the mondeo, but I'd proberbly sell the mondeo privately if I decided to get rid off, reckon I'll get £500 for it, if not a bit more because it's in good condition.

I do prefer the mondeo over the rover but the rover's got air con & I'll be a bit cheaper to run ( tax / insurance / tryes ), the mondeo is slightly more economical than the rover ( only extra 5 mpg )

They will be the same to tax, they both fall into the pre01 system and are above 1549cc, i cant imagine the insurance will be any different really either, both similar performers.

I'd keep the mondeo and sell the rover, although the engines are not great they are reliable and it sounds like you prefer the drive of the mondeo.
