I'm using my brothers Mondeo V6 at the moment while my ST24 is at the garage.

It's stared fine everytime until today where it just turns over and won't fire at all!!

I've looked at a few threads on MEG but all suggest different things and I don't want to go through the list replacing them all..

I can hear the fuel pump priming.

Is there any easy way to check what could be wrong?
From what I've read spark plugs rarely work fine one day and not at all the next?

thanks

Does it have an immobiliser?

Try locking and unlocking the car again may disable the imobiliser if its active.

Just a thought

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been out a few times this morning and unlocked/locked the car each time, still no luck.

I have the red 'master' key - am I ok to try that?

pull the back seats up, you will see the fuel pump in the middle. hit this with a rubber hammer a few times, keep doing it until the car starts, then take it to Ford and get a new fuel pump.

Thanks. Just tried this but still no joy. There's not even attempt at it firing up.

hit it harder :p

i had the same problem with my ST220. you will probably have to give it a couple really good whacks.

Does the starter motor turn over?

oops, sorry I didn't mean to double post before - was posting from my mobile!

lol ok I'll try hitting it harder!

Yeah the starter motor is turning over fine.

Still won't start although the fuel pump does sound better after giving it a few good hits!

I tried priming it a few times as well which didn't make any difference but wondering if the engine is now flooded?

Will leave it a bit and try again!

will it bump?? or is it an auto?

It's manual and I haven't tried but it's nicely parked on the drive at the moment, if it still doesn't go then I won't get it back on the drive.

If I don't get anywhere I'll call the RAC later, pretty sure we've got home start!

Thanks for all the suggestions, keep them coming if there's anything else you think of :D

I've got a fault reader cable but I'm not sure it would pick anything up and I think it's in the boot of my car which is at the garage so not much use until I get it back (hopefuly later today)!

you'd need a compression tester, but i i doubt its a compression fault. but you have tested for spark and fuel first?

spark, fuel, compression. check

Another double post! It's hassle to get to the plugs so haven't checked them yet. How can i check fuel is reaching the engine?

Still nothing after spraying some 'easy start' so am I right in thinking it's unlikely to be fuel related?

I got that with an old Ka, the emergency fuel blocker 'thingie' that is located near your feet was malfuncioning and cutting the fuel supply to the engine.
