Mondeo V6 won't start!

I got that with an old Ka, the emergency fuel blocker 'thingie' that is located near your feet was malfuncioning and cutting the fuel supply to the engine.

Ah yes could be this, it's the sensor that cuts all fuel when impact is detected I believe.

Get a mate over and have a go at bump starting it, I had similar symptoms with my carlton toward the end of its life, managed to bump start it and get it to the garage.

Yeah, We went to the UK with a Ford Expedition once (don't ask) and everytime it was turned off had to be pushed to start, something with the immobiliser apparently.

That won't help if the starter motor's working

Put your foot to the floor (accelerator) and try starting it. Might help ;)

thanks for all the suggestions.

I've tried everything mentioned and there's no change, just turns over with no attempt to fire up.

I called the RAC about an hour ago as I'm getting no where, should be here in 30-45 mins!

Do you smell fuel after cranking it over for a while ?
Has your brother ever had problems with the immobiliser ?
Is the emergency shut off activated ?
Does it sound like it's turning over normally or is it faster or slower ?

I can smell fuel, although it's not strong.

Never had a problem with the immobiliser before - I phoned him yesterday and he can't ever remember a problem with it.

The button on the emergency shut off is pressed down, which the manual says it should be so I'm assuming that's ok.

Sounds fine to me when it's turning over. I don't notice anything odd about the speed.

It either sounds like there's no spark at all, coil pack or something is nackered - will let the RAC check that.
Or it's an electrical problem as there's no attempt to fire up at all.

I'm no mechanic though so wouldn't know!

I had a similar problem - was the crank sensor but that was on my clio. Same symptoms, but i guess it could be a load of things

I should have looked into this more!!

RAC bloke took it off, cleaned it, put it back on and the car started.

Time for a new sensor I think.
