If I was transferring a large amount of money, I'd want to do it the best and most secure way, rather than the cheapest.

If its not secure, it may indeed be the most expensive option.

Bank will charge around £20 to send that level of money. I'd be surprised if it's £250,000 - more likely £250,000 Pakistani Rupees - around £2630.
