Hey folks,

Bit of back story, I run a Zotac Amp Extreme 1080 backed by an OC'd i5-4670K, I do all my gaming on a 32" 60hz 1440p Benq

This last week I had a few games of PUBG on a BenQ ZOWIE XL2730, 27" 144hz 1440p (with a 1080 7700k system) and the game felt significantly improved, almost like having heightened awareness of everything.

Ever since it feels like my usual setup is slightly clunky, no visible signs of stutter but a lot less fluid, is this likely to be the move to 144hz? or some CPU bottleneck I had never noticed?

if it sounds like the monitor, is there any viable options for 144hz 4k screens at 32" around the £500 mark?

Probably down to the monitor and frame rate.

Bear in mind that if you go 4k I doubt even a 1080 is reaching 144fps to keep up with the monitor Hz.

So the fluidity you were experiencing at 1440p will be lost.

Not even sure there are 144hz 4k panels available yet.

If you want a new monitor, go for a 1440 ultrawide ;)

Ah, I did not know you needed to keep such a high FPS for the hz!

i've never really considered an ultrawide mainly due to general other media consuming not always in 21:9.

does anyone have any suggestions for a good ultrawide 1440p 144hz?

Actually I don't think there is a 144hz ultrawide yet. I think Asus have one out soon but it'll be obscenely expensive.

There are a few 100hz ones though. My Samsung cf791 is 100hz

Acer Predator Z35 35 inch Widescreen Curved Monitor (21:9, VA, LED, 144 Hz, 4 ms, G-Sync v2)
AOC Gaming AGON Series AG352QCX 35-Inch 2560 x 1080 200Hz
BenQ XR3501 35-Inch Curved LCD Gaming Monitor, 144Hz

^^^^ there could well be others as well, good is subjective and perhaps down to the panel lottery. So read up on them first :)

I have the same monitor as IvanDobskey which runs at 3440x1440. Whilst it is not pushing the same number of pixels around as a 4k screen you do still need a damn good GPU to keep good FPS and eye candy settings. The UW monitors at 2560x1080 would be easier on the GPU but imo lack the vertical height of the other resolution noted, which is the same as a 27" 16:9.
I'm surprising myself how much I am liking the marmite aspect ratio of 21:9 when at 34" and 3440x1440.

You don't. What you're probably seeing is quicker pixel switching rates/response times and faster refresh. 60hz on a slow screen feels a bit off.

Just had a look and found a 100Hz Freesync 32" 2560x1440 screen for a lot less than £500. It's from that site that likes PayPal and we can't mention. It's a Korean off brand.

I'm tempted to buy one along with the RX580 that's on offer.

No warranty of any kind, and if there's a problem got to send back. Plus import duty and taxes, shipping.

I just cannot decide at all, currently considering going for another 1080 and a 4k screen, will then end up stuck at 60 hz still
